Chelsea have completed the signing of 19-year-old left-back Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United on a six-year deal, with an option to extend by another year. Wiley becomes Chelsea's sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

Who is Caleb Wiley?

Caleb Wiley was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 22, 2004. He joined Atlanta United's academy at the age of 11 and progressed through the club's youth system. Wiley made his professional debut in 2022 and enjoyed a memorable start, scoring in a 3-1 win against Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.

Wiley's Rise to Prominence

Wiley featured 25 times in his maiden season and made further progress in 2023, featuring 30 times in the league and scoring four goals, as well as assisting three. In total, Wiley featured 85 times across all competitions for Atlanta United.

International Career

Wiley has represented the United States at various youth levels, including the Under-17, Under-20, and Under-23 teams. He made his senior debut in October 2023 against Mexico and has been included in the US men's football team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Chelsea's Pre-Season Schedule

Chelsea will start their pre-season schedule with a match against Wrexham in California on July 24. They will begin their Premier League campaign by hosting champions Manchester City on August 18.
