AFC Bournemouth has completed the signing of 19-year-old centre-back Dean Huijsen from Juventus on a six-year deal. Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Huijsen is a highly regarded prospect known for his strong physical presence and confidence on the ball.
Background and Career
Born on April 14, 2005, in Amsterdam, Huijsen made his Serie A debut in October 2023, coming off the bench in a win at AC Milan. He was later loaned to Roma, where he featured in 13 top-flight matches and scored twice in just four starts. Notably, he scored a impressive solo goal where he dribbled from the halfway line and scored from outside the box.
Praise from Jose Mourinho
Renowned manager Jose Mourinho spoke highly of Huijsen, saying: "He is an 18-year-old boy who has played 10 minutes in Serie A, but he is one of the highest-quality prospects in European football at this age level. He will be a great footballer in the future.”
International Experience
Huijsen is a Spain Under-21 international and has previously represented the Netherlands at youth level.
Bournemouth's 2024/25 Transfer Activity
Huijsen becomes the sixth summer signing for Bournemouth, including the permanent transfers of Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal. The Cherries have also acquired Alex Paulsen, Daniel Jebbison, and Koby Mottoh.
Upcoming Fixtures
Bournemouth's next pre-season fixture is against Rayo Vallecano at the Vitality Stadium on August 4. They begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, August 17.
