The Premier League clubs continued their pre-season preparations over the weekend, with 15 teams in action. Here's a summary of the matches and what we learned from them:


Liverpool vs. Preston North End

Liverpool suffered a 1-0 defeat to Preston in a behind-closed-doors friendly. Despite controlling the game, Liverpool conceded a goal from Preston's only shot on target. Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Harvey Elliott featured for Liverpool.


Manchester United vs. Rangers

Manchester United earned their first pre-season win with a 2-0 victory over Rangers. Leny Yoro impressed on his debut, and Jadon Sancho made his first appearance since August 2023. Amad scored a sublime goal, and Joe Hugill added a second late on.


Tottenham Hotspur vs. QPR

Tottenham made it two wins out of two with a 2-0 victory over QPR. Yves Bissouma opened the scoring with a skillful goal, and Dane Scarlett added a second late on. Archie Gray lined up at center-back, while Lucas Bergvall had to be withdrawn due to an injury.


Everton vs. Sligo Rovers

Everton fought back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Sligo Rovers. Youssef Chermiti scored two goals, and Mason Holgate was also on target. Sean Dyche would have been pleased with the performances of Chermiti and Iroegbunam in the second half.


Crystal Palace vs. Charlton

Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Charlton in their second pre-season match. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi scored a 90th-minute equalizer, while new signings Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada started for Palace.
