Twenty-one-year-old becomes Villa's first summer signing after making move from Goodison Park
Aston Villa has officially announced the signing of forward Lewis Dobbin from Everton, marking the club’s first acquisition in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old talent moves to Villa Park after making notable strides at Everton.
Dobbin has accumulated 15 Premier League appearances for Everton, with his lone goal coming in a memorable 2-0 victory against Chelsea last season. His performance demonstrated his potential and skill on the big stage.
During the 2022/23 season, Dobbin had an impressive loan spell at Derby County in League One. While with Derby, he scored five goals and provided six assists across all competitions, showcasing his ability to influence games and contribute significantly to his team's attacking play.
In addition to his club achievements, Dobbin has represented England at various youth levels, including Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19. His international experience highlights his potential and the high regard in which he is held within the football community.
Dobbin's move to Aston Villa follows the departure of midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who transferred to Everton on Saturday, indicating a strategic player exchange between the two clubs.
Aston Villa, under the management of Unai Emery, is set to begin the new season on 17 August with an away match against West Ham United. This signing aims to bolster Villa's attacking options as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
