Tomás Romero Joins NYCFC, Boosting Goalkeeping Depth
New York City FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Tomás Romero until the 2024 MLS season, with options for 2025-26. A 23-year-old El Salvador international, Romero brings experience from LAFC and Toronto FC, boasting four clean sheets in 24 league appearances. He also spent time in the Philadelphia Union Academy.
David Lee, the sporting director, expressed excitement about Romero's addition, highlighting his talent and MLS and international experience. Romero joins Matt Freese and Luis Barraza, providing depth to NYCFC's goalkeeping options. Additionally, the club welcomed homegrown Alex Rando this offseason.
