Brentford Secures Sergio Reguilon on Loan
Brentford has successfully secured the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur, a deal extending until the conclusion of the current season.
Having spent the initial part of the season on loan with Manchester United, the Spanish international showcased his skills in nine Premier League appearances, along with two in the UEFA Champions League and one in the EFL Cup.
Head coach Thomas Frank expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, emphasizing the club's longstanding quest for a quality left-back. Frank credited Phil Giles and Lee Dykes for their effective efforts in securing the deal, highlighting Reguilon's suitability for Brentford's needs. Described as a perfect fit, Reguilon brings a proven track record in the Premier League, marked by offensive prowess, excellent crossing ability, and a strong left foot. Frank also praised the player's experience, character, and overall contribution to squad dynamics.
Reguilon's role as cover at left-back becomes crucial for Frank, given the injuries sidelining both Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey. The 27-year-old defender boasts an impressive resume, having accumulated 61 appearances in the Premier League for both Spurs and Manchester United since his 2020 move from Real Madrid. His contributions include 13 clean sheets and eight goals.
Brentford fans can anticipate Reguilon's potential debut when the team faces Nottingham Forest at home on January 20.
