Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Lead Real Madrid to 5-1 Triumph in LaLiga
In a spectacular display at the Bernabeu Stadium, Brazilian duo Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo each scored twice, propelling Real Madrid to a commanding 5-1 victory over Valencia in LaLiga on Saturday.
Real Madrid took an early lead in the third minute when full back Dani Carvajal executed a half-volley from the edge of the box after a brilliant first touch lifted the ball over Valencia defender Jose Gaya. Despite Toni Kroos hitting the crossbar with a freekick, Valencia's Hugo Duro had two close-range chances denied by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
Vinicius and Rodrygo continually posed a threat to Valencia's defense and combined forces in the 42nd minute to extend Real's lead. Rodrygo's run down the right touchline culminated in a low cross to Vinicius, who scored with a diving effort reminiscent of footvolley games on Rio de Janeiro's beaches.
In his first encounter with Valencia since experiencing racist abuse from their fans in May, Vinicius showcased determination, adding another goal shortly after halftime with a clinical curling shot. Rodrygo increased the lead, capitalizing on a poor touch from Valencia's goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Rodrygo capped off the outstanding performance with an individual effort in the 84th minute, dribbling past two defenders and finishing neatly to the goalkeeper's left. Valencia's striker Hugo Duro managed a consolation goal two minutes from time with a close-range strike.
Real manager Carlo Ancelotti praised the team's performance, stating, "It was a really great game. From start to finish we showed all the quality we have—attitude, courage. It was a very well-played game. Everyone has delivered."
Real Madrid occupies the second spot in the standings with 32 points, trailing surprise leaders Girona by two points. Barcelona, in third place with 27 points, is set to face Alaves on Sunday.
