Harry Maguire and Andre Onana, who have faced intense criticism from Manchester United fans, experienced a remarkable resurgence during their team's 1-0 victory over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, earning commendation from manager Erik ten Hag.

Maguire, who has endured verbal attacks from supporters prompting former player David Beckham to extend his support, scored the winning goal with a powerful header in the 72nd minute. Meanwhile, Onana showcased his mettle by saving a crucial penalty in the dying moments of the match, securing United's first Champions League win of the season.

Ten Hag lauded Maguire's proactive play style, emphasizing his assertiveness in possession and his commanding presence during defensive maneuvers. The manager highlighted Maguire's dominance in duels and praised his adept heading abilities, citing a well-executed pass from Christian Eriksen leading to the goal.

While Onana had faced severe criticism following his transfer from Inter Milan, Ten Hag expressed admiration for the goalkeeper's recent performances, noting an evident improvement in his skill execution during the match against FC Copenhagen.

The victory, dedicated to the late club legend Bobby Charlton, helped elevate United to the third position in Group A with three points after three games. Ten Hag acknowledged the team's recent resurgence, emphasizing the importance of unity and team spirit, particularly as they approach the upcoming Manchester derby against Manchester City.

During a touching pre-game tribute to Bobby Charlton, Ten Hag, former teammate Alex Stepney, and Under 19s team captain Dan Gore paid their respects to the World Cup winner and one of England's and Manchester United's most illustrious players, underscoring the significance of Charlton's legacy within the club's history.
