Liverpool dominated their Europa League Group E match against Union Saint Gilloise, securing a 2-0 victory with goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota. Gravenberch broke the deadlock just before halftime by calmly slotting in a rebound after Union's goalkeeper, Anthony Moris, had initially saved a shot. Jota sealed the win deep into stoppage time, capitalizing on a counter-attack and calmly slotting the ball past Moris from inside the penalty area.

With this win, Liverpool took the lead in Group E, accumulating the maximum six points, while Union Saint Gilloise found themselves in third place with just one point. Toulouse, sitting in second place in the group, earned four points thanks to a first-half goal by Gabriel Suazo, securing a 1-0 victory against LASK.

Although Darwin Nunez thought he had given Liverpool an early lead, the goal was disallowed for offside. Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp acknowledged that his team had room for improvement, citing a loss of rhythm and too many set-pieces conceded.

In other Europa League action, Bayer Leverkusen clinched a 2-1 victory against Norwegian champions Molde, taking the top spot in Group H with six points, tied with Azerbaijani side Qarabag, who secured a 1-0 victory over Hacken.

AS Roma, the runners-up in the previous season's Europa League, displayed dominance by defeating Swiss side Servette 4-0 at home, with goals from Romelu Lukaku, Andrea Belotti, and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Villarreal earned their first points of the campaign with a 1-0 home win over Stade Rennais, and the visitors missed a golden opportunity to equalize when Martin Terrier failed to convert a penalty in the dying moments of the match.
