Diego Alonso Takes Over as Sevilla Manager Mid-Season
Sevilla has officially named former Uruguay national team coach, Diego Alonso, as their manager for the remainder of the season. This appointment comes following the dismissal of Jose Luis Mendilibar, who played a crucial role in helping Sevilla escape relegation and secure the Europa League championship against AS Roma in the previous season. However, their performance in the current season has been lackluster, with Sevilla currently occupying the 14th position in LaLiga.
Diego Alonso, a seasoned coach with experience managing various Latin American teams, such as Penarol and Olimpia in the Uruguayan top flight, as well as Pachuca and Monterrey in the Mexican league, will now take the helm at Sevilla. His tenure as the new coach is slated to last until the conclusion of the ongoing season.
Sevilla's upcoming challenge is a home fixture against LaLiga leaders Real Madrid, scheduled for October 21st.
