France coach Didier Deschamps expressed concern over Kylian Mbappe's recent performances, emphasizing that the star player cannot be content with his current form. Deschamps made these remarks while announcing his squad for an upcoming Euro qualifier against the Netherlands and a friendly match with Scotland.
Despite scoring seven goals in Ligue 1 for Paris St Germain this season, Mbappe has faced difficulties and struggled to make a significant impact on the field. PSG's recent 4-1 loss to Newcastle United in the Champions League, in which Mbappe had limited influence, exemplifies this.
Deschamps noted the correlation between Mbappe's performance and his club's results, acknowledging that the young striker is not currently at his best. He suggested that Mbappe's preparation during the summer may have played a role in his struggles.
However, Deschamps remains confident that Mbappe will bounce back. He highlighted the player's competitive spirit and ambition, emphasizing that even when performing well, Mbappe always strives to improve.
France is set to face the Netherlands in Amsterdam on October 13 in a crucial Euro qualifier. Currently, France leads Group B with a perfect 15 points. Following that, they will host Scotland in Lille on October 17 for a friendly match.
