Nicolas Pepe Makes Surprise Move to Trabzonspor as Arsenal Terminates Contract
Ivory Coast's talented forward, Nicolas Pepe, has bid farewell to Arsenal and embarked on a new chapter in his career by joining the Turkish club, Trabzonspor. This announcement was made by Arsenal on a Saturday when they confirmed the termination of his contract with the Premier League team.
Arsenal had initially acquired the services of the 28-year-old winger from Ligue 1's Lille in 2019, setting a club record at that time with a transfer fee of £72 million ($89.74 million). However, this record was surpassed just a few months ago when they signed Declan Rice, the England midfielder from West Ham United, for a staggering £105 million in July.
Trabzonspor marked this significant transfer with a video shared on their official social media account, X (formerly known as Twitter), where Nicolas Pepe could be seen on a private jet, expressing his ambition, stating, "I came here to become a champion and achieve success."
Arsenal confirmed their agreement with Nicolas Pepe to terminate his contract immediately, thereby officially ending his association with the club. During his tenure with Arsenal, Pepe showcased his skills and netted 27 goals in 112 appearances. In the previous season, he was loaned out to the French side Nice, where he made 28 appearances and impressively scored eight times.
Trabzonspor currently holds the seventh position in the Turkish Super League, and the addition of Nicolas Pepe to their roster is undoubtedly a significant move for the club.
