Monaco Soars to Ligue 1 Summit with Convincing 3-0 Victory
Monaco ascended to the summit of the Ligue 1 standings following a commanding 3-0 triumph at their home ground against Racing Lens this past Saturday.
Monaco, now amassing 10 points after four fixtures, enjoy a two-point lead over second-placed Olympique de Marseille. The latter managed a 1-1 draw against Nantes on the preceding Friday, while Stade Brest, currently in third place, secured a goalless stalemate against Stade Rennais earlier on the same Saturday.
The scoring for Monaco commenced in the 24th minute, with Wilfried Singo nodding in the opening goal. Twelve minutes later, Alexandre Golovin expertly converted a counter-attack into the second goal.
In the 59th minute, Monaco's Chilean defender, Guillermo Maripan, capitalized on a slip by Lens center-back Kevin Danso to net the third goal of the match.
Lens, who finished as runners-up last season with the most formidable defense in Ligue 1, having conceded a mere 29 goals, continue to seek their first victory in the current campaign. They have already conceded 10 goals across four matches and currently languish in the second-to-last position with just one point earned.
