Former Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths has faced legal consequences stemming from an incident during a football match. According to British media reports on Wednesday, Griffiths, who was on loan at Dundee in September 2021, has been fined by a court for his involvement in an incident during a Scottish League Cup quarter-final.

During the match in question, a smoking flare was thrown onto the pitch, leading Griffiths to kick it towards the away fans' section, which included rival supporters. This act, which endangered the visiting fans, was acknowledged by Griffiths himself during an earlier hearing.

As a result of his actions, the 33-year-old footballer was ordered to pay an additional fine of £1,000 ($1,250.50) by the Dundee Sheriff Court on the specified Wednesday. Notably, Griffiths had previously faced financial penalties of £15,000 from Celtic and another £1,000 from Dundee.

It's worth mentioning that Griffiths, who has earned 22 caps while representing Scotland, is currently playing for Mandurah City in Australia.
