Belgian international Divock Origi has embarked on a new chapter in his football career, as Nottingham Forest has officially confirmed his arrival on a season-long loan from AC Milan. This transfer was unveiled by the Premier League club on a Friday announcement.
Origi's inclusion in Forest's roster coincides with several other notable signings, demonstrating the club's commitment to strengthening its squad. Among the new arrivals are Irish center-back Andrew Omobamidele, Ivorian midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, English winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, Argentine defender Nicolas Dominguez, and Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares.
Ross Wilson, the Chief Football Officer of Nottingham Forest, expressed his enthusiasm for Origi's return to the Premier League, emphasizing the club's intention to bolster their attacking options. He stated, "Divock returns to the Premier League to further add strength to our squad. We wanted to bolster our attacking options, and Divock certainly helps us to do that."
Origi's recent loan stint at Milan occurred after a successful spell with Liverpool, where he made a total of 175 appearances, contributing 41 goals and 18 assists during his time at the Merseyside club. His achievements with Liverpool include winning the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Premier League title under the management of Jurgen Klopp. He also left a lasting mark by scoring crucial goals in both semi-finals and the final of Liverpool's 2019 UEFA Champions League-winning campaign.
Additionally, Origi, who has earned 32 caps for the Belgian national team, made his international debut in May 2014.
Looking ahead, Nottingham Forest is set to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. As of now, they occupy the 14th position in the league standings, having accumulated three points from their first three games of the season.
