RB Leipzig's Stunning 5-1 Comeback Victory Against VfB Stuttgart
RB Leipzig mounted an astounding comeback, netting five goals within a span of 25 minutes during the second half, to overturn an early deficit and secure an emphatic 5-1 victory against visiting VfB Stuttgart. This victory marked RB Leipzig's first league win of the season, following their initial Bundesliga defeat of 3-2 against Bayer Leverkusen.
Stuttgart initially caught Leipzig off guard when a mistake by Leipzig's David Raum resulted in a pass to Atakan Karazor, who then assisted Serhou Guirassy for a goal. Guirassy's strike marked his third goal in just two league matches, having also scored twice in Stuttgart's 5-0 home victory against VfL Bochum in their season opener.
Leipzig swiftly responded in the 51st minute as Benjamin Henrichs managed to level the score, capitalizing on a mishandled clearance attempt by Stuttgart's goalkeeper, Alexander Nuebel.
Dani Olmo's exceptional skill was on display in the 63rd minute when he deftly turned and finished between two defenders, giving Leipzig the lead. Olmo, who had previously secured a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup and added another goal in the previous week's match, continued his impressive form.
Adding to Leipzig's advantage, Lois Openda found the net just three minutes later, providing the team with a comfortable two-goal cushion.
Leipzig's onslaught continued as Kevin Kampl unleashed an outstanding shot from the edge of the box in the 74th minute. The relentless pace of their attack was evident, with Xavi Simons adding another goal just two minutes later, sealing Stuttgart's fate.
This commanding performance comes on the heels of RB Leipzig's 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup. Looking ahead, Bayern will strive to secure their second consecutive league win as they face Augsburg on Sunday.
