Mother of Spanish Soccer Chief Begins Hunger Strike in Support, Hospitalized
The mother of Luis Rubiales, the embattled head of the Spanish Soccer Federation, commenced a hunger strike on Monday in solidarity with her son. This situation took a concerning turn on Wednesday, as Angeles Bejar, Luis Rubiales' mother, was reported to have been transported to a local hospital due to feelings of exhaustion and stress. The local priest, Father Antonio, disclosed that Bejar had sought refuge within a church situated in her hometown, Motril, located in the southern region of Spain. This act of seclusion was intended to protest against the treatment her son had been subjected to, stemming from a controversy involving a kiss shared between World Cup player Jenni Hermoso and Luis Rubiales. The incident resulted in Rubiales' suspension by FIFA on the preceding Saturday.
Subsequently, on Wednesday evening, Angeles Bejar was conveyed to the Santa Ana hospital in Motril. Father Antonio confirmed this development to the press, although he refrained from providing further details regarding the situation. At present, the Santa Ana Hospital has not officially verified Bejar's admission or condition.
