Manchester City has successfully come to an agreement with Ligue 1 team Rennes to secure the services of winger Jeremy Doku, as reported by both Sky Sports and the BBC on Tuesday.

The financial terms of the deal are reportedly valued at 55.4 million pounds ($70.72 million), according to an in-depth BBC report. This development signals that the talented Belgian international is scheduled to make his way to Manchester on Tuesday, with the intention of finalizing a comprehensive medical examination.

A notable detail about Jeremy Doku is that he embarked on his journey with Rennes in October 2020, following a transfer from Belgium's Anderlecht. Since then, he has demonstrated his prowess by participating in over 90 matches across various competitions while contributing 12 goals to his team's efforts.

Just recently, Doku showcased his capabilities by scoring for Rennes during their initial league fixture against Metz earlier in the same month.

In terms of his international career, Jeremy Doku has earned significant recognition. With 16 appearances for the Belgian national team, he earned his debut in the year 2020. His talents were even acknowledged on the global stage when he received a call-up to join the national squad for the World Cup held in Qatar last year. Although he was utilized as a substitute in one match, Belgium faced an early exit during the group stage of the competition.

The acquisition of Doku aligns with the strategic vision of Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola. In light of the departure of Algerian forward Riyad Mahrez, the club has been in search of ways to bolster their offensive capabilities. The arrival of Jeremy Doku is anticipated to substantially strengthen the ranks of the reigning league champions, further fueling their pursuit of clinching an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title.

As of now, Manchester City finds itself in the runner-up position within the Premier League standings, having accumulated six points from two matches. Their upcoming challenge involves a fixture against the newly-promoted Sheffield United, which is slated to take place on the forthcoming Sunday.
