AS Monaco has officially completed the signing of Folarin Balogun, a talented striker hailing from the United States, from the Premier League side Arsenal. This significant transfer was confirmed by both AS Monaco and Arsenal on Wednesday. While specific financial terms were not unveiled, reputable sources in the British media have estimated the deal to be valued at approximately 40 million euros (equivalent to $43.71 million).

Balogun, aged 22, initially joined the ranks of Arsenal at the tender age of eight. However, his appearances for the club remained limited, totaling to a mere 10 outings, before he embarked on loan spells to further his development. Notably, he spent time on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, and subsequently, he took his talents to Ligue 1 with Stade de Reims in January and August of 2022.

It was during his tenure at Stade de Reims that Balogun truly came into his own. He delivered an exceptional performance throughout the season, showcasing his prowess in front of goal by netting an impressive tally of 22 goals in 39 matches across various competitions. Unsurprisingly, his stellar form attracted interest from multiple European clubs, all vying for his signature. Ultimately, Balogun carefully considered his options and settled on AS Monaco as the club he believed would be the ideal platform for his continued growth and success.

Interestingly, Balogun's journey holds an international twist as well. While he was born in Brooklyn, New York, he was raised in England. In a pivotal decision, Balogun made the choice to switch his international allegiance from England to the United States in May, a move that reflects his unique transatlantic background and his aspirations to represent the United States on the international stage.
