What kind of thing is this? The time for getting married hasn't come yet while working. He used to be Manchester United's goalkeeper for a solid 12 years. He has surpassed the age of falling in love by several years. But the time for getting married, like a contractual obligation (read: job-related), never came. On the very day when the contract with the club ended and the official unemployment period began, he got married.
As a first-time unemployed person, David de Gea has prioritized the important task of waking up from sleep and getting married. At the age of 32, this Spanish goalkeeper married his longtime girlfriend Edurne on Saturday. After the wedding ceremony in Spain, he posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, "I couldn't be happier than this."
In 2011, David de Gea joined Manchester United. After several contract renewals, the last day was June 30. Once again, the English club wanted to extend his contract. However, in recent times, de Gea's performance under the goalposts has not been in his favor. As a result, United offered him a lower salary than the current one, which de Gea did not accept.
British media outlets say that United has left the opportunity to have a conversation with de Gea. If both sides agree, a new contract can be made. Additionally, the name of this Spanish goalkeeper is being heard as a potential destination for Saudi Arabia. Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo's club, has reportedly shown interest in him multiple times.
However, none of this is final yet. The only thing that is final is—currently, de Gea doesn't belong to any team, unemployed. And he started a new chapter in life on the first day of unemployment.
