Shola's remarkable journey in football began at a young age, as he showcased his talents even before officially becoming a first-year scholar. In 2018, at just 14 years old, he etched his name in history as the youngest-ever player to grace the field in the UEFA Youth League, coming off the bench against Valencia.
As a crucial member of the Under-18s team, he played a vital role in their FA Youth Cup semi-final run while still attending school. One of the highlights during this time was his impressive goal against Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford. Throughout his early career, Shola demonstrated his skills as a forward, notching up two goals in 14 starts and six substitute appearances across various competitions. He mostly operated as a wide midfielder, and in September 2020, he made his Premier League 2 debut for the Under-23s, coming off the bench against Leicester City when he was just 16.
Shortly after turning 17, Shola further solidified his commitment to the sport by signing his first professional contract with the club. His prowess on the pitch did not go unnoticed, and less than two weeks later, he made his debut for the first team as a substitute during a Premier League match against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on 21 February 2021. His exceptional performances earned him the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award for the 2020–21 season.
Continuing his development, Shola made two appearances in the 2021-22 term. He made a significant impact, coming off the bench in a crucial Champions League encounter against Young Boys, securing a 1-1 draw. He also made an appearance in the final-day defeat to Crystal Palace.
On 19 January 2023, an exciting new chapter unfolded in Shola's career as he embarked on a loan move to League One side Bolton Wanderers for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
