The Eredivisie club, PSV Eindhoven, announced on Sunday that Xavi Simons, a midfielder from the Netherlands, has departed to join Paris St Germain, the reigning champions of Ligue 1. Simons, who previously played in Barcelona's youth academy, joined PSV on a five-year contract from PSG last year after his previous contract expired.

Having arrived in the French capital in 2019, Simons made his professional debut in 2021 and achieved success by winning both the league and the Coupe de France.

In an official statement, PSV stated, "Xavi Simons will immediately leave the training camp to finalize his transfer to Paris St Germain."

During his time at PSV, Simons played a significant role in helping the team secure a second-place finish in the Dutch top flight. He made 34 appearances, scoring 19 goals, and providing eight assists.

Furthermore, Simons has amassed a collection of accolades while at the club, including the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield, and the Eredivisie's top scorer award.

"The twenty-year-old attacker joined PSV last year and became an integral part of Ruud van Nistelrooij's team," added the club.
