Mbappe's Absence Sparks PSG Exit Speculation
Kylian Mbappe's absence from Paris St Germain's squad for their Asian pre-season tour has sparked speculation about his potential departure from the Ligue 1 side.
Tensions between Mbappe and PSG escalated after the French forward declared last month that he would not extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, possibly allowing him to leave Paris as a free agent.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has made it clear that they are not willing to let Mbappe go without a transfer fee, considering the substantial 180 million euros ($200 million) the club invested to acquire him.
Media reports indicate that PSG is currently planning to put the 24-year-old player up for sale, as they believe he has already agreed to join Real Madrid for free next summer.
When contacted by Reuters for comment on Friday, PSG representatives did not provide an immediate response.
While PSG has been a dominant force in Ligue 1, winning nine out of the last 11 titles, their performances in the Champions League have been a source of frustration. Despite significant investments in their squad, the club has never clinched the prestigious Champions League trophy.
During this year's competition, PSG's journey came to an end in the last 16 round when they were defeated by Bayern Munich, failing to score in both legs. Mbappe's absence due to injury in the first leg added to their challenges, and he expressed their sense of helplessness in the second leg.
In the midst of the speculation surrounding Mbappe's future, another prominent figure, Brazilian forward Neymar, is also rumored to be considering leaving the club. However, he has been included in coach Luis Enrique's squad for the upcoming match against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr in Japan.
During their Asian pre-season tour, PSG will also face Japan league's Cerezo Osaka and Serie A side Inter Milan before heading to South Korea for a match against Jeonbuk Motors.
