A tragic incident occurred on Sunday during an outdoor neighborhood block party in Baltimore, Maryland, resulting in two fatalities and 28 individuals wounded, approximately half of whom were children. The police are seeking assistance from the public to track down multiple suspects involved in the mass shooting.

The motive behind the violent act, which took place around 12:35 a.m. local time in the grassy courtyard between two two-story rowhouse structures in the Brooklyn Homes community of South Baltimore, remains unknown.

Authorities have identified the deceased as an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man. As of Sunday afternoon, nine of the injured individuals remained in the hospital, some in critical condition, as stated by the police during a press conference.

Among the 28 wounded survivors, approximately 14 are believed to be under the age of 18. The ages of those injured range from 13 to 32, according to a report by Baltimore television station WBAL-TV.

This shooting incident may be the largest occurrence of gun violence in Baltimore since 2014 in terms of the number of victims, according to the Baltimore Sun, which referenced data compiled by the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive.

The scale of this tragedy is particularly distressing for a city that has long struggled with high levels of homicides and violent crimes.

The acting commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department, Richard Worley, announced that the search for multiple suspects is underway. He appealed to the community to provide any information or videos that could aid in identifying the perpetrators.

A resident of the neighborhood, Terry Brown, recounted the chaos that unfolded, describing the sound of gunfire followed by a panicked rush of people seeking cover. Parents were frantically searching for their children, unaware of whether they had been wounded.

Mayor Brandon Scott condemned the shooting as a reckless and cowardly act and pledged that those responsible would face justice. He assured the community that the authorities would relentlessly pursue the culprits until they were apprehended.
