Manchester United's International Players Return for 2023/24 Season Preparation
On Saturday morning, familiar faces including club captain Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes arrived at Manchester United's Carrington training ground. The players were in high spirits as they geared up for an exciting second season under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.
After participating in European Championship qualifiers and friendlies in June, the players were given additional time off. Now, they are back and ready to begin their preparations for the second pre-season match against Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday, July 19th.
Several other players who represented their respective national teams have also returned to the training base, including Fred, who missed the 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo to manage his workload.
The returning players have joined the rest of Ten Hag's squad that resumed training last week and played in the recent victory over their historic rivals. Additionally, it marks the first time for many of them to meet the club's latest signing, Mason Mount.
Although the players have returned, Ten Hag explained that many of them may not feature in the upcoming clash against Lyon. He emphasized the importance of allowing them time for a good training week after their well-deserved rest, considering their heavy involvement in the previous season's matches.
Following a positive start in pre-season with impressive performances from young talents Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill, Manchester United's recently-returned players will aim to contribute to building momentum as they head into the 2023/24 campaign, which includes four Tour 2023 matches in the United States.
Tickets for Wednesday's match at Murrayfield are still available for purchase, offering fans the opportunity to witness whether Ten Hag's men can continue their winning start to the pre-season.
