Cesc Fabregas Retires from Football to Embark on Coaching Career after Glittering Playing Stint
In the 2008 Euro, 2010 World Cup, and 2012 Euro, Cesc Fabregas was a member of Spain's golden-era champion team. In the final of the 2010 World Cup against the Netherlands in South Africa, Andres Iniesta scored the winning goal, which Fabregas assisted. His club career has also been quite successful. He has played for teams like Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, and AS Monaco.
However, last year, Fabregas joined Como in Italy for the second consecutive row. Now, he has set his sights on coaching, announcing the end of his illustrious 20-year playing career in three languages - English, Spanish, and Italian - through social media last night. Along with it, he also revealed the news of starting his coaching journey with the U19 and B teams of Como.
At the age of 36, the former midfielder wrote, "It's very sad for me that the time has come to hang up my boots. The early days at Barcelona, then Arsenal, again Barcelona, Chelsea, Monaco, and Como - those times were very precious to me. From winning the World Cup trophy, two Euros, winning everything in England and Spain, and almost all European trophies, I will never forget this journey."
Last year in August, Fabregas signed a two-year contract with Como. Even before a year passed, he changed his role within the club.
Everyone knows about Fabregas's friendship with Lionel Messi. After announcing the farewell to his playing career, he received messages of good wishes from everyone, including his dear friend.
Argentina's World Cup-winning captain wrote on Instagram, "Cesc Fabregas, you already know when it comes to making the right decisions, we think about ourselves and our families. We will spend many more moments together. We love you very much. Best wishes for the next phase of life, my friend!"
