What is included in the contract worth $271 million with Messi?
Lionel Messi made a significant trip to Saudi Arabia last month. Messi's visit to Saudi Arabia sparked intense discussions. It has now been revealed that Argentine football star has signed a contract worth a hefty amount with Saudi Arabia as a tourism ambassador.
According to a report by The New York Daily Times, based in the United States, as per the agreement with Messi, the Argentine football icon will receive €2.25 million over a period of more than three years. As per the contract, he will visit Saudi Arabia once every year for a five-day trip or twice a year for three days. The Saudi Arabian government will cover the expenses of Messi's family and up to 20 companions, amounting to €180,000. Additionally, as part of the agreement, Messi will have to post about commercial events and Saudi tourism on social media, with the condition that he won't post anything that disrespects Saudi Arabia.
Last month, when Messi traveled to Saudi Arabia with his family as the country's tourism ambassador, the Minister of Tourism of the country, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, expressed his excitement. Khateeb tweeted, "I am very pleased to welcome Lionel Messi, Saudi Arabia's tourism ambassador, and his family to Saudi Arabia. Just like the second time, they have come to spend their vacation in Saudi Arabia. We welcome tourists from different parts of the world to experience Saudi hospitality." This announcement created a buzz about the possibility of Messi joining Al-Hilal. Spanish radio station "Onda Cero" mentioned a proposal of around 500 million riyals with Al-Hilal. However, shortly after, Messi's father, Jorge Messi, denied the rumors. Nevertheless, Al-Hilal was still waiting for a definitive "yes" from Messi. If the deal with Al-Hilal doesn't go through, Messi will continue working as Saudi Arabia's tourism ambassador, representing the victorious Argentine footballer on a global scale.
