Former Netherlands striker Quincy Promes jailed for 18 months for stabbing uncle's nephew. This incident took place three years ago. In July 2020, Promes was involved in such an incident at a family gathering. At that time, he was playing for the Dutch club Ajax. The Dutch court has found him guilty of this crime.
Promes' lawyer has stated that they will appeal against this verdict. Dutch broadcaster NOS has reported this incident. The star was absent from court during the hearing, being 31 years old.
Promes started his professional career with the Dutch club Twente. Currently, he plays for Spartak Moscow since 2021. Prior to that, he has played for Sevilla and Ajax. Promes has played 50 matches for the Netherlands until 2014-2021.
The allegations against Promes do not end here. Last month, Dutch prosecutors charged him with involvement in drug trafficking.
