Messi has gone 'mad', says Agüero
Even without a formal agreement, it is almost certain that Lionel Messi will join Inter Miami. There have been various discussions regarding Messi's move to this new club. Sergio Agüero had fun with this Argentine football champion regarding his move to Miami.
The team Messi is going to play for, Inter Miami, was established in 2018. Inter Miami is in the Eastern Conference group of the Major League Soccer (MLS). Miami is currently in 15th place in the Eastern Conference points table. Agüero had a conversation with Messi and sent him a screenshot of the points table, saying, "I told Messi yesterday. I sent him a screenshot of the Eastern Conference points table and told him that his team is far behind. You have to climb up to the 8th or 9th spot. Messi went crazy after hearing my words. Then Messi said, 'We will play off.'"
This season's MLS includes 29 clubs. Fifteen clubs will play in the Eastern Conference, and fourteen clubs will play in the Western Conference. Each team will play 34 matches, including two matches against teams from their own conference based on a home and away basis. The remaining four or five teams from the other conference will play one match against each other. Out of the 34 matches, Miami has played 16 matches, collecting 15 points. Charlotte, ranked 9th in the same conference, has 21 points. Nine teams from both conferences will qualify for the MLS Cup playoffs. The MLS Cup will begin in October-November with 18 teams, and the selection of teams will start from there, which will determine the MLS champion. If everything goes well, Messi's United States chapter could start on June 11 against New England at the Gillette Stadium.
The MLS Cup has been held since 1996. The latest champion of the MLS Cup, held in 2022, was the Los Angeles Football Club. It was their first championship in the tournament. The highest number of titles, five times, has been won by the Los Angeles Galaxy (LA Galaxy). In addition, the LA Galaxy and D.C. United have each won the Supporters' Shield, the most four times. The team with the highest points in the tournament receives the Supporters' Shield award.
