Mihailo Tolotos
Mihailo Tolotos he never met a woman

Oh, is that possible! He was born, grew up, and lived until the age of 82. But throughout his entire life, he never saw a woman, not even for a moment! Was there really such a man in the world who never saw a woman in his lifetime, not even his own mother?

According to a report by the British news outlet "Unilad," the name of that person was Mihailo Tolotos. He was a resident of Mount Athos in Greece.

According to the report, Mihailo only heard about women and learned about their existence from friends and books. But he never looked at any woman, not even once.

It is believed that Mihailo was born in 1856. Soon after his birth, his mother passed away. Mihailo became an orphan.

After his mother's death, the monks of a monastery in Mount Athos adopted him. He grew up among the monks.

Mihailo not only grew up among the monks but also adopted their austere way of life from a young age.

In the monastery where Mihailo stayed, strict rules were followed. One of the main rules was not allowing any woman to enter the monastery.

Not only women but also any domesticated animals like cows, sheep were not allowed to enter the monastery. That ancient tradition of the Greek monastery is still practiced today.

One of the main reasons for not allowing women to enter the monastery was to ensure that the monks could maintain celibacy throughout their lives.

However, the monks were allowed to go outside the monastery to meet the needs of the outside world. As a result, they could interact with women if necessary.

But as long as Mihailo lived, he never left the monastery of Mount Athos.

Mihailo passed away at the age of 82 in 1938.

After Mihailo's death, the monks of Mount Athos performed his funeral with great respect. They believed that Mihailo was the only man in the world who never looked at any woman. So he was highly respected among the monks.

An article was published about Mihailo in a newspaper called "Edinburgh Daily Courier" on October 29, 1938. The article was titled "Greek Monk Dies Without Ever Seeing a Woman in His Life."

Currently, Mount Athos is recognized by UNESCO as one of the most historic sites in the world. Even today, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.

However, there is still much controversy surrounding the restriction on women entering the monasteries of Mount Athos. Many have criticized this rule as "discriminatory" and "ancient."
