The United States and China have agreed to increase the number of flights between themselves. There has been a consensus on this issue during a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is currently visiting Beijing. Yesterday, he held a meeting with China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, in Beijing.
During the meeting, Antony Blinken and Wang Yi agreed on the necessity of increasing the number of flights between the two largest economies in the world.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been minimal air travel between the two countries.
Under the condition of not disclosing the name, an American official stated that top diplomats from the United States and China have agreed to work together to increase the number of flights between the two countries. They reached a consensus on this matter during the extended discussions held in Beijing.
The same American official stated that, however, no specific number of official flights has been determined yet.
Antony Blinken arrived in China just yesterday. Within nearly five years, this is the first top-level diplomatic visit to Beijing by a high-ranking American official.
During his two-day visit to China, there is a possibility of Antony Blinken also having a meeting with China's President, Xi Jinping.
