Compromise, Prigoshin is going to Belarus
The head of Belarusian group Bakhnar, a supplier of mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is going to Belarus. According to the news in the Russian state media, all the allegations against him regarding the rebellion will be addressed. The decision to investigate these allegations has been made by the relevant authorities in Russia, as reported by the UK's BBC news.
According to the CNN news in the United States, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesperson, has announced that President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus has reached an agreement with Yevgeny Prigozhin. Under this agreement, all the criminal charges against Prigozhin related to the rebellion will be dropped.
Peskov stated that there will be an agreement between Bakhnar's mercenaries and the Ministry of Defense of Russia. As a result, they will not face any punishment due to yesterday's rebellion. The Kremlin always appreciates the bravery of Bakhnar's mercenaries for their courageous actions.
Following this announcement from the Kremlin's side, Prigozhin and his mercenaries were seen leaving the military headquarters in the city of Rostov-on-Don.
Bakhnar has participated in the Ukrainian war as part of Russia's forces. This force has played a significant role in the fighting in eastern Ukraine. However, for some time now, there have been allegations of a shortage of supplies, which has caused dissatisfaction among Russia's military leaders. Bakhnar's leader Prigozhin had expressed his dissatisfaction with this and had expressed opposition to Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Meanwhile, on the past Friday, Prigozhin lodged a complaint, stating that on that day, Defense Minister Shoygu had given orders to launch rocket attacks on Bakhnar's mercenaries in Ukraine. Many of Bakhnar's fighters were killed as a result. He referred to this as "persecution" and criticized the top Russian military leaders for their irresponsible actions.
After the announcement from the Kremlin, Prigoshin and his fighters were seen leaving the military headquarters in the disputed city, indicating a rift between Prigoshin and his warriors. Russia has been involved in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, playing a significant role in the fighting in the city of Bakhmut. However, recently there have been complaints about a shortage of weapons, which led to discontent among Russian military leaders, including Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Last Friday, Prigoshin accused Shoygu of giving orders to launch rocket attacks on Ukrainian fighters, resulting in the deaths of many of them. He described it as "persecution" and issued a warning to Russian military leaders. Following this, Prigoshin declared a rebellion and began a journey towards Moscow, the capital of Russia, with his forces from the Ukrainian border. They also occupied several cities and military installations in Russia. Later, the campaign was halted in Belarus' mediation.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It has been reported that Lukashenko discussed the situation with Prigoshin yesterday on behalf of the Belarusian government. The discussion took place with Putin's approval. Lukashenko assured that necessary steps would be taken to regain control of the situation and ensure the safety of Ukrainian fighters. Exchange of guarantees has been made."
