Cigarettes in Canada will deliver the message of death.
For the first time in the world, Canada is taking the initiative to deliver a message of death to smokers through cigarettes. Messages like 'Cigarettes cause cancer' and 'Each puff is poison' are usually written on the cigarette packets themselves. In this regard, the Canadian government has planned to write these messages directly on the cigarettes.
According to a report by BBC on Thursday, the Ministry of Health of Canada has stated that this will be implemented from August 1. The goal is to reduce the smoking rate in the country by 5 percent within 2035. Writing death messages on cigarettes is the initial step towards achieving that goal.
Caroline Bennett, the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions in Canada, stated in a statement that smoking causes the death of an average of 48,000 people in the country every year.
Bennett said, "We are the first country in the world to deliver warning messages separately on every cigarette."
Since 1989, warning messages have been written on the cigarette packets in Canada. Later, pictures are also being used for warnings on these packets.
