Chelsea goalkeeper Ronaldo's move to the Saudi club is gaining traction in West Asia
Cristiano Ronal has followed the path and joined a Saudi Arabian club, Al Ahli, to play in the Premier League. Chelsea's goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, has signed a contract with Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli.
Mendy played a crucial role in Chelsea's Champions League victory in 2021. He scored two goals in seven knockout stage matches. He has now joined an Asian club in addition to his European club football. He has signed a contract with Al Ahli until 2026. The club officially announced the three-year contract with Mendy on Wednesday. Mendy was given a special jersey with "2026" written on it. The club has not revealed the details of the contract.
In 2021, Mendy was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the UEFA Champions League for his outstanding performance. He also received the Best Goalkeeper of the Year award from FIFA. He has left his mark not only in club football but also in international football as Senegal's goalkeeper. He saved a crucial penalty in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, leading his country to victory.
Mendy has played a total of 105 matches for Chelsea. In 30 matches, he has managed to keep the opposing team's footballers from scoring. Al Ahli is delighted to have such a skilled goalkeeper like him. Prior to Ronaldo's departure, Karim Benzema left Real Madrid and joined Saudi club Al-Ittihad. Saudi club Al Hilal made an attempt to sign Lionel Messi, although it was not successful.
