Scientists say that the city dates back to the ancient Maya civilization. For over a thousand years, the city served as a significant center for the Maya community.

The deep jungle of Mexico, where human feet rarely touch, has revealed the remains of an ancient city. The abandoned city contains immense structures such as pyramids and stone columns.

Scientists say that the city dates back to the ancient Maya civilization. For over a thousand years, the city served as a significant center for the Maya community.

The discovery of the city was made by a team of archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico. They have named the city 'Okumatan,' which means 'Stone Pillar' in the Maya language.

The Science and History Institute has announced that this city occupies more than 50 hectares of land. From 250 to 1,000 AD, the inhabitants of the Maya civilization lived in this area. The region is located within the protected forest area of "Balamku" in the Campeche region of Mexico.

The group of archaeologists was led by Ivan Sprajc. After walking approximately 60 kilometers through dense jungle, they came across the city. Ivan Sprajc stated that the most surprising aspect was that the city is situated on a high ground above a sub-island. It is surrounded by marshland. The city contains several large buildings, as well as several pyramids over 15 meters in height.

According to Ivan, they have discovered several examples of sculpture from the city. They have also found several tombs, which have been dated to the period between 600 and 800 AD. According to Ivan, further examination and analysis of the discovered artifacts in the city will reveal more detailed history.

In ancient times, the Maya civilization was the most advanced in North and Latin America. This civilization flourished in the southern region of present-day Mexico and the northern region of Central America. The region is almost equivalent to the state of Texas in the United States. The remnants of the Maya civilization are often found in the deep jungle.

The Science and History Institute of Mexico has revealed that they have discovered similar structures along the La Riguena River. Regarding this, Ivan Sprajc states that the area served as a marketplace or a place for various religious practices. However, further research will provide more detailed information about this region and its inhabitants.
