According to AFP and Reuters, on Thursday, the authorities halted construction on a property owned by Neymar. The establishment is located in the southern suburb of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is managed by a real estate company.

The local government authorities have announced in a statement that several violations have occurred in the luxurious project. These violations include changing the course of water flow, using river water without permission, extracting sand from the beach, and quarrying stones.

If the allegations are proven, Neymar could be fined a minimum of 5 million Brazilian reais or 1.5 million US dollars, as mentioned in the statement. Reuters reached out to Neymar's family spokesperson for any comment, but they declined to provide any statements.

According to AFP's report, the local media released a video provided by the government authorities. In the video, Neymar's father, Neymar da Silva Santos, was present during the inspection of the establishment. The video shows him engaging in a discussion with the officials.

In a subsequent statement from the mayor's office, it was stated, "Our next step will be to evaluate and impose fines for all violations found. The environmental damage caused will result in a fine that is not less than 5 million Brazilian reais according to preliminary calculations."

Local media outlets have reported that Neymar purchased the property in 2016. The property spans an area of 10,000 square meters and features a helipad, a spa, and a gym.
